Over a lunch with some of the guys at work we were talking about generally doing better as a team and things that might help. We drifted into reporting and talked briefly about Burn-up charts and came up with a shared insight.
Here it is;
When a team is new to this old agile thing they need some stimulation to reflect and change their approach to work. Small visible deadlines and trajectories of our likelihood to succeed or fail are useful. The burn down chart meets this need. It shows small safe to fail contexts - the sprint and shows whether the team is on track to win or lose at the potentially shippable increment game.
