This topic probably warrants a bit of structure.
Have everyone write down their version of your teams gaols, targets, measures of success or whatever you call it, independently of everyone else.
You can layer this with focusing questions for;
- The individual
- The team
- The group
- The product/department
- The company
Ask for answers that describe the goals as qualitative statements rather than numbers.
Have the team reveal there answers and observe the differences and similarities.
Discuss what you see. Are you all aligned? If not ask what preconceptions may be present to have generated the divergence.
Consider visualising shared goals in the team area.
Once you resolve the understanding across the team the next question: Do people outside the team understand the goals the same way you do?
