Bell's theorem

John Bell dies in 1990 on this day. JOB was awesome because he was a challenger. Bell's theorem challenged quantum mechanics because he figured out that either things can communicate instantly across distance (ie faster than light) or they don't exist when not being observed.

I started learning about quantum mechanics in the 1990s as a non scientist curious layman. It excites me and leaves me completely confounded despite years of reading up on it. Bell was able to work out some of this confusion to call out a meta pattern.  That's amazing. Plus he looks like a high school teacher.
