Kano and quality requirements

Project requirements specifications identify what the project wants to change. An understanding of the business processes and the business data with their related problems and opportunities, as well and environmental constraints and guides is required to fully understand requirements.

Requirements can also be categorised into classes along the lines of the Kano model:
  • Threshold / Basic attributes
  • One-dimensional attributes (Performance/Linear)
  • Attractive attributes (Exciters/Delighters)

All threshold requirements must be met, one-dimensional requirements should be weighed on cost-benefit assessments while attractive attributes should be included wherever possible, but are the ones usually washed out by time and cost considerations.
